Tribal Governance

As sovereign entities, tribal governments have the inherent right to determine and manage their own affairs. Current supports tribal governments in exercising their sovereignty by developing tribal legal infrastructure through code and policy drafting. Current is committed to establishing and supporting tribal programs and services, addressing issues related to tribal health systems and housing programs, and offering high-level advisory services for governance, compliance, and long-term strategic planning. 

Economic Development

Current understands the importance of diverse economic development in Indian Country and the positive impacts it has on tribal communities. Current represents tribal governments and entities on various gaming and non-gaming matters, from entity formation and governance to contracting, procurement, compliance, and bid strategies. 

Cultural & Natural Resources

Cultural and natural resources are vital to tribes and help sustain culture and communities. Current is dedicated to protecting land, water, and environmental resources critical to tribal communities including the preservation of sacred sites, language preservation, and the expansion and protection of tribal arts programs and heritage projects. Current understands the importance of relationships between tribal governments and conservation entities to protect and preserve cultural resources as well as ensuring compliance with the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act.​

Tribal Justice Systems

Tribal justice systems play a critical function in preserving cultural identity and fostering community cohesion. Current helps tribes establish justice systems that promote healing and restoration while ensuring that justice is informed by the laws and values of the community. This includes the development of law enforcement and courts, drafting codes, rules, and operational frameworks, strategic planning, creating and advising on cross-deputization agreements, and addressing civil, criminal, and regulatory jurisdiction disputes.

Government Relations 

Government relations are crucial for ensuring the protection of tribal sovereignty and the preservation of cultural heritage. These partnerships promote collaboration on critical issues including economic development, education, and healthcare, thereby empowering tribes to flourish within their communities. Current navigates government relations through monitoring, drafting, and advocating for legislation impacting tribal sovereignty; fostering relationships between tribes, governmental agencies, and stakeholders; navigating recognition processes at the federal and state level; and actively participating in federal rulemaking to advance tribal interests. Current also advises on policy formation, strategic lobbying, and coalition building.
